Veronika Bienert steps into Siemens CFO role as technology giant streamlines leadership and advances ONE Tech Company transformation

A new chapter begins for Siemens' finance function on 1 April 2025, when Veronika Bienert assumes the position of Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

The appointment, confirmed by the company's supervisory board on 11 February 2025, represents a significant internal promotion for the executive who currently oversees the service portfolio of Siemens Financial Services, Siemens Real Estate and Global Business Services.

The move places an experienced financial professional at the helm of the group's financial organisation as the company pursues its ONE Tech Company framework.

Veronika's elevation to the CFO role forms part of broader leadership transitions announced by Siemens, which the company describes as structured succession planning aligned with its long-term transformation objectives.

The ONE Tech Company programme, which launched in December 2024, aims to integrate Siemens' business into a more unified technology company, accelerating the combination of the real and digital worlds to drive innovation and growth across its portfolio.

Internal expertise meets strategic vision

The appointment brings Veronika's multifaceted experience within Siemens to bear on the finance function at a moment when the company emphasises stability, performance and disciplined execution.

Continuity in financial leadership

Veronika succeeds Ralf P. Thomas, outgoing CFO, who will step down from the managing board on 13 May 2025 at his own request. Ralf will remain connected to Siemens as a Special Advisor to both the supervisory board and managing board until December 2026, while continuing as Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Siemens Healthineers AG.

Roland Busch, President and CEO of Siemens AG, emphasised the importance of maintaining continuity during the transition. "I would like to express my sincere thanks to Ralf Thomas - for his extraordinary achievements and the extremely good and trusting cooperation. Siemens' impressive financial strength clearly bears his signature," he says. "In a few weeks' time, as planned, Veronika Bienert will take over full responsibility in her new role, bringing with her the experience of an outstanding financial expert and entrepreneur. I congratulate her and look forward to the work ahead."

Roland described the appointments in a LinkedIn post, writing: "These strategic appointments and transitions reinforce our leadership team as we accelerate our journey towards becoming ONE tech company. It's an exciting time for Team Siemens!"

Streamlined leadership structure ahead

The finance transition coincides with additional changes to the managing board. Dr. Peter Koerte, currently Chief Technology Officer and Chief Strategy Officer, will assume responsibility for Smart Infrastructure from 1 July 2025, taking over from Matthias Rebellius who will step down at the end of his term.

The change brings Smart Infrastructure under the direct oversight of the executive responsible for technology and corporate strategy, reinforcing connections between portfolio direction, innovation and customer solutions.

Roland says: "Congratulations to Peter Koerte on his new responsibility in the managing board for Smart Infrastructure, starting 1 July. Dear Peter, with your deep technological and strategic experience, and your strong customer understanding, you're ideally placed to drive the continued success of Smart Infrastructure and take it to the next level."

Following the departures of Ralf and Matthias, the managing board will reduce from seven to five members. The streamlined structure accompanies Siemens' continued focus on executing its ONE Tech Company strategy, combining financial resilience, technological depth and closer integration across its businesses as it enters the next phase of its transformation.
