Avantor Appoints Todd Garner as Chief Financial Officer

Todd Garner, CFO and CEO Emmanuel Ligner, welcome the transition as the healthcare company focuses on long-term strategy and value

Avantor has named Todd Garner as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, effective 21 September 2026.

The life sciences and advanced technology provider confirmed that Todd will take charge of the global finance unit. 

His responsibilities encompass financial planning and analysis, treasury, accounting, tax, internal audit and investor relations.

The leadership change comes as Avantor seeks to bolster its executive team with extensive public company experience.

Todd joins the business from CONMED Corporation, where he served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer between 2018 and 2026.

Extensive industry credentials

Todd brings more than thirty years of operational, corporate and financial leadership experience to the role. 

Prior to his tenure at CONMED, he held multiple leadership positions at C. R. Bard, Inc., including Vice President of Investor Relations and Division CFO, where he supported significant business expansion and value creation.

An accountant by background, Todd earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Brigham Young University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. He is also a certified public accountant.

Todd replaces Steve Eck, Senior Vice President and Chief Accounting Officer, who had been serving as Interim CFO since 24 June 2026. Steve will remain with the business and

Avantor partners

Oxford Nanopore Technologies entered a global distribution agreement with Avantor to distribute its portable MinION DNA/RNA sequencing devices, consumables and reagents. Led by CEO Francis Van Parys, the company is headquartered in Oxford, United Kingdom. Through Avantor’s global e-commerce channels, scientists across Europe and the Americas gain broader, streamlined access to real-time nanopore sequencing tools

Agilent Technologies signed a key distribution agreement to supply its Chemistries and Supplies Division portfolio through Avantor’s platforms across North America. Headquartered in California, US and led by CEO Padraig McDonnell, Agilent partners with Avantor to provide laboratories with seamless access to chromatography columns, analytical supplies and critical research workflow consumables.

Cytiva collaborates with Avantor as a primary channel partner to distribute bioprocessing consumables, filtration products and cell culture technologies. Headquartered in Massachusetts, US, under CEO Chris Riley, it leverages Avantor’s global logistics network to supply critical biopharma manufacturing and research solutions to life science customers worldwide. Cytiva is owned by Danaher. 

Corning Incorporated partners with Avantor to distribute its extensive range of cell culture equipment and specialty glassware. Headquartered in New York, US, and led by CEO Wendell P. Weeks, the materials science leader relies on Avantor’s VWR distribution channel to supply academic, clinical and industrial laboratories with essential scientific research tools. 

Beckman Coulter Life Sciences partners with Avantor to distribute automated liquid handling solutions, centrifugation equipment and validated Biomek pipette tips. Headquartered in Indiana, US, the company utilises Avantor’s global supply chain network to deliver laboratory automation systems and critical consumables to research and diagnostic facilities worldwide.
