EQT AB Names Gustav Segerberg as New Chief Financial Officer

Global private markets firm EQT AB has announced a major leadership change with the appointment of Gustav Segerberg as its new Chief Financial Officer.
Gustav will succeed Kim Henriksson â who has decided to step down after nearly eight years in the role â effective from 18 July 2026. The transition marks a pivotal moment for the publicly listed alternative asset manager as it positions its financial leadership for its next phase of growth.
A track record of expansion
The appointment brings an internal veteran into the firmâs top financial position. Gustav has already played a significant role in shaping the financial and strategic trajectory of the business as a member of the Executive Committee and most recently as Head of the CEO Office.
During his tenure, Gustav has overseen EQT ABâs transformative merger and acquisition activities.
This includes orchestrating high-profile combinations with Baring Private Equity Asia, Exeter Property Group and Coller Capital. He has also been responsible for driving organic growth initiatives, notably directing the firm’s strategic expansion into the private wealth sector.
Per Franzén, CEO of EQT, says: “Having worked closely with Gustav for many years, I have the utmost confidence in his ability. His deep understanding of EQT's strategy, business model, and stakeholder relationships makes him exceptionally well placed to take on this role.
“Kim has been a deeply valued partner through one of the most transformative chapters in our firm's history. I want to extend my sincere gratitude to him for his outstanding contributions to EQT to-date and am pleased that he will continue as a Senior Advisor to the benefit of our portfolio companies, clients and shareholders.”
Operational continuity
Under Kim’s financial stewardship since 2018, the firm built a professional finance function designed to support its evolution into a transparent listed platform. To ensure corporate continuity, Kim will remain with the company as a Senior Advisor to support an orderly transition.
Gustav comments: “I am honoured to be appointed CFO of EQT and look forward to working with our exceptional team to continue delivering for our shareholders. EQT is a truly unique firm with a strong culture, a clear strategic vision, and substantial opportunities ahead. I am committed to building on the strong financial foundation Kim has established and driving EQT's continued growth.”
Focus on public governance
The incoming finance chief inherits a robust balance sheet structured during a period of international scale. Meanwhile, the outgoing executive will transition his expertise directly toward the firm's broader ecosystem, focusing on capital markets readiness and corporate governance for investments.
Kim adds: “It has been a privilege to serve as CFO of EQT since 2018 and to have been part of such an extraordinary growth journey. I am proud of what we have achieved together and confident that Gustav will be an outstanding CFO.
“I look forward to a smooth handover over the coming months and to thereafter work closely with EQT portfolio company boards, management teams and CFOs as a Senior Advisor, including supporting on IPO preparations and public company financial governance”
