Managing corporate financial compliance represents a persistent operational challenge for modern CFOs and their internal teams.

As regulatory frameworks become increasingly intricate across European markets, finance departments frequently find themselves bogged down in repetitive month-end reconciliations, manual data entries and complex tax filings.

To eliminate these administrative bottlenecks, Berlin-based startup Integral secures an €18m (US$19.8m) Series A funding round to expand its AI native accounting platform across Germany.

Co-led by Mosaic Ventures and prominent technology investor Reid Hoffman, alongside existing backers Cherry Ventures, General Catalyst and Puzzle Ventures, the investment validates a highly disruptive approach to corporate finance.

Rather than simply selling software tools for internal finance teams to configure, the business operates as a fully managed professional service provider.

It deploys specialised AI agents to automate the tedious aspects of bookkeeping, while licensed human experts review and authorise every financial output.

"We at Integral are building the leading AI-native professional services group: companies that build and run their own technology, staffed with licensed experts who stand behind every result."

Reengineering financial compliance

Timely and accurate financial reporting stands at the core of sustainable corporate growth and investor confidence.

Yet, legacy accounting systems often require extensive human oversight to process routine transactional data, leading to administrative delays and costly errors during the month-end close.

By combining automated execution with professional human sign-off, Integral ensures that businesses maintain perfect financial records without overburdening internal finance personnel.

“We at Integral are building the leading AI-native professional services group: companies that build and run their own technology, staffed with licensed experts who stand behind every result. We started with accounting, tax and payroll for SMEs and that's just the beginning,” says Lukas Zörner, Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer at Integral.

This hybrid service model changes how growing companies structure their financial operations.

By delegating repetitive compliance workflows to reliable automated systems, finance leaders can shift their focus away from routine data entry towards strategic capital allocation and commercial forecasting.

“Our agents prepare payroll and deliver payslips on the day they are due. They prepare real accounting records, with a tax advisor signing their name under every one. I am very proud of that and today we raised an €18m Series A to bring it to thousands more companies,” says Anil Can Baykal, Co-founder and CTO at Integral.

Managing corporate risk and ambiguity

Navigating corporate tax compliance requires nuanced judgement that standard automation tools cannot provide independently.

Financial administration frequently touches multiple legal frameworks, tax codes and regional regulations simultaneously.

As miscalculations carry severe legal liabilities for employers, the technical design ensures that artificial intelligence acts as a powerful enabler for human experts rather than an unmonitored decision maker.

To protect organisations from costly financial errors, the platform architecture incorporates strict confidence thresholds.

When an automated agent detects ambiguity in corporate records or complex tax calculations, it immediately routes the file to a qualified professional.

“Sometimes the data is ambiguous. Sometimes the rule is. All of it has to sum up to a result a licensed professional signs their name under,” says Anil.

“The hard problems sit in the system around the model: agents that recognise the limits of their own confidence and hand over at the right moment... evaluation that separates a correct filing from a convincing one,” adds Anil.

Key facts:
  • Integral secures an €18m (US$19.8m) Series A funding round co-led by Mosaic Ventures and Reid Hoffman.
  • The Berlin startup deploys AI agents to manage repetitive bookkeeping and corporate tax tasks.
  • Licensed human professionals review and authorise all financial records and tax filings prepared by the system.
  • Co-founders Lukas Zörner and Anil Can Baykal launch the firm to transform traditional financial service models.
  • The fresh capital accelerates full-lifecycle automation from onboarding to annual close and fuels regional hiring.

Scaling the modern finance factory

The fresh influx of capital enables the company to expand its technical capabilities and scale its specialised service offerings.

The executive team focuses on automating complex financial lifecycle events, from initial client onboarding through to the crucial annual close, establishing a comprehensive software factory for corporate administration.

“The funding lets us dig deeper on those hard problems: full-lifecycle automation from onboarding to annual close, more specialised agents and the platform to run them at scale, extending our software factory into a full payroll and tax factory,” says Anil.

Rebuilding an entire industry framework demands exceptional focus and technical expertise.

Creating a seamless synthesis between AI and human professionals remains a highly complex operational challenge, but offers significant long-term rewards for modern corporate finance leaders.

“This is a tough business to build. The number of details you have to get right is close to infinite and it's the hardest mission I've personally ever worked on. But it comes with a rare opportunity: to change how an entire industry operates, not by replacing the people in it, but by finally enabling them to work on what really matters,” adds Lukas.

To support this rapid expansion drive, the firm actively recruits across engineering, go-to-market and professional services disciplines.

Attracting top-tier technical and financial talent remains central to maintaining high quality standards as the platform scales.

“That's why we're hiring engineers, GTM, tax and payroll experts and have many more open roles. I'm biased, but I think this is one of the most interesting problems you can work on right now,” adds Lukas.
