Fadi Pharaon, CEO of Tobii, appoints Martin Johansson as Acting CFO as the firm faces a 46% net sales decline and searches for a permanent CFO

Tobii has announced that Martin Johansson has been appointed as Acting Chief Financial Officer, effective 30 September 2026.

Prior to his appointment, Martin served as Sales Controller at Tobii, a position he had held since first joining the company in 2022.

Martin has an extensive background in finance, with more than 15 years working in international organisations, most recently at Ubisoft Entertainment, and prior to that at Duni AB and Axis Communications.

Martin succeeds Åsa Wirén, who has served as Tobii’s Interim CFO since May 2025. Åsa will continue to support Tobii during the transition period.

The search for a permanent CFO

He goes on to praise Martin, saying that his familiarity with Tobii’s operations, financials and finance organisation “positions him well for this role”.

Fadi adds: “I have full confidence in his ability to lead the finance function and ensure continuity during this period.”

The process is expected to be concluded once the company’s ongoing strategic review has been finalised.

The review includes discussions with external parties and evaluation of various structural or transactional alternatives, such as business divestments, partnerships or capital raising.

Tobii’s challenges in Q2 2026

Tobii has seen other changes to its Board of Directors amid its review of current business challenges.

Earlier this month, Carl Mellander, a member of the Board of Directors at Tobii, announced he would be stepping down from the position at his own request, effective immediately.

Discussing his reasons for leaving the Board, Carl says: “Given the growing scope of board work at Tobii, and considering the time required by my other commitments, I will no longer be able to devote the time that the Tobii board role deserves.”

He adds that he is thankful for the company’s understanding of his decision and that he wishes Tobii “the best in its exciting continued journey.”

Following Carl's departure, Per Norman, Chairman of the Tobii Board, says: “I want to extend a big thank you to Carl for all the work he has done on the board. He has contributed greatly to developing Tobii's board work, and I wish him all the best going forward.”

In addition to these leadership changes, Tobii has faced challenges following its 2026 second quarter report, which saw the firm take decisive action in response to a challenging financial situation.

For the second quarter, Tobii’s net sales declined 46% year-on-year due to challenging market conditions, while its free cash flow reached negative SEK 10m (US$1m). Tobii is not providing guidance for the second half of the year.

Discussing these results, Fadi says: “Market conditions remained challenging in the second quarter, and we continue to act decisively to reach positive operating cash flow during 2027.

“With the savings achieved, sharper product prioritisation… we are laying a solid foundation for the future.”
