Voya Financial Leverages TELUS Health for EAP Integration

Voya Financial, the retirement, employee benefits and investment management firm, has announced a collaboration with TELUS Health.
TELUS Health is a Canada-based company focused on helping people live healthier lives and supporting organisations in building more productive, wellbeing-focused workplaces through its healthcare technology.
Under the agreement, the companies plan to integrate TELUS Health’s Employee Assistance Program services with Voya’s Group Annual Term Life Insurance to enhance and expand access to support.
Embedding mental health resources into a core protection benefit is designed to streamline access for employees, improve utilisation and deliver earlier intervention – helping address personal challenges before they affect wellbeing, work performance or financial decision-making.
For finance leaders, the approach aligns wellbeing investment with risk management by connecting preventive support to a high-coverage benefit, with the potential to mitigate productivity losses, reduce downstream claims exposure and improve the value yield on total rewards spend – without adding point-solution complexity.
Alan King, SVP, Employer Solutions, TELUS Health, said in a statement: “Employers and insurers are recognising that mental health plays a critical role in how people show up at work, manage their finances and navigate everyday life.
"Bringing together Voya’s leadership in employee benefits with our experience in mental health and well-being allows us to expand access to more personalised support and make it easier for people to get the help they need when they need it.”
Improving mental health care
TELUS Health operates a hybrid care model, pairing its digital platform with professional clinical support to deliver stepped levels of assistance.
For employers and insurers, this approach is designed to increase access and steer individuals to the right level of care earlier in their journey – helping to mitigate productivity losses and the escalation of higher-cost claims.
Its core features include financial planning, identity theft recovery and wellness coaching, alongside resources that address family and workplace challenges.
By bundling financial wellbeing with mental health support, the model targets key stressors that can drive absenteeism and presenteeism, while reducing point-solution complexity and related administrative overhead.
The standard offering emphasises early intervention and flexible access, with a secondary, premium tier available for specialised needs such as intensive mental health programs and crisis management.
A tiered structure aligns spend with clinical acuity and enables clearer performance measurement across utilisation, time-to-care and outcomes.
“As mental and emotional wellbeing continue to play a critical role in employee engagement and productivity, it’s essential that we work with service providers who share our commitment to delivering meaningful, trusted support,” said Maleiha Russell, VP, Life and Disability, Voya Financial.
“TELUS Health brings a strong combination of clinical expertise, innovation and accessibility that aligns with our goal of helping employers support their people in impactful ways.”
By joining forces, TELUS Health will be able to leverage Voya’s broader approach to mental and behavioural health, reinforcing access, quality and care navigation across workplace benefits.
For finance leaders, embedding EAP into core protection benefits can streamline procurement and governance, improve benefit utilisation and deliver a clearer return on total rewards investment. Additional information on the new EAP offering will be communicated directly to TELUS Health and Voya clients.
