Santander UK Reshuffles Leadership Amid TSB Integration
Santander UK has announced four new appointments to its Executive Committee as it restructures its senior leadership team to align more closely with its parent company, Banco Santander. The moves come as the bank continues the operational integration of TSB.
The reshuffle includes changes across the bank’s finance, accounting, compliance and payments divisions.
Three of the four appointments reflect structural changes made by Chief Executive Officer Mahesh Aditya to match Banco Santander’s group operational model.
Executive committee restructuring
Tom Ranger will take over as Chief Financial Officer, subject to regulatory approval, taking effect from 1 October 2026.
Tom rejoins Santander UK after a two-year stint as Chief Financial Officer at Yorkshire Building Society. His background includes 25 years in financial services, 17 of which were spent within Santander UK.
He succeeds Angel Santodomingo, who has served as CFO since 2023. Angel will resign as an Executive Director of Santander UK Group Holdings plc and Santander UK plc on 31 October 2026, before stepping into a new role at Banco Santander in January 2027.
Tom Ranger, incoming CFO, notes: “I’m very pleased to be returning to Santander UK in the role of CFO. The acquisition of TSB marks an important new chapter for the bank, and I look forward to supporting a successful integration and working with both new and former colleagues.”
Meanwhile, Steve Affleck has been appointed to the new role of Chief Accounting Officer with immediate effect.
Steve, who previously served as Deputy CFO, has led the bank's Financial Control division since 2020 and has been with the firm for 23 years.
Both Tom and Steve will report directly to Mahesh. The bank stated that this updated finance structure aligns with the wider Group model, aiming to provide distinct focus and accountability across top leadership.
Payments and compliance updates
The bank has also created a dedicated Executive Committee position for its cards division.
Iñaki Perkins joins as Head of Cards & Payments, a decision Santander UK attributed to the growing strategic importance of the sector across both the UK business and the wider Group.
Iñaki brings more than 20 years of experience in financial services, including time as CEO of Spanish digital bank WiZink Bank.
To lead its compliance oversight, Michael Christodoulides will join as Chief Compliance Officer from 1 November 2026, subject to regulatory approval.
Michael joins from Barclays UK, where he currently holds the same role, bringing 19 years of compliance experience across advisory, oversight and operational frameworks.
Strategic focus on integration
The corporate changes arrive as Santander UK works to combine operations with TSB, expanding its reach in the UK banking market.
Mahesh Aditya, CEO, Santander UK, says: “I am delighted to welcome four excellent new additions to my Executive Committee.
“At an incredibly exciting time for our business, as we integrate TSB and work towards becoming one of the most substantial, competitive banks in the UK, the breadth and depth of their expertise and experience will be pivotal to our success.
“The changes will bring us into closer alignment with the wider Group and strengthen our ability to deliver our strategic priorities.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank Angel Santodomingo for his invaluable contribution as CFO since 2023. He has shown strong leadership of the finance function and played an important role in managing the bank’s financial position during a significant period of change.”
The announcement coincides with Santander’s recent news that the bank’s underlying profit has risen to €7.3bn (US$8.3bn), up by 15% in the first half of the year.
In addition to a rise in revenue, by 6%, totalling €30.8bn (US$35.1bn), its total number of customers also increased by 12 million, reaching 182 million.
